Ingredients:
- 1 cup fruit juice (your choice of flavor)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons gelatin powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for rolling)
- 1/2 cup water
- Cornstarch for dusting (optional)
Instructions:
1. Put the fruit juice, lemon juice, and water in a small pot. Set the pan on medium heat and warm it up. Do not boil.
2. Add the gelatin powder to the juice mixture and mix it in with a whisk until it’s all mixed in.
3. Add the powdered sugar and stir it in. Keep heating the mixture until it is well mixed and the sugar is gone.
4. Take the pan off the heat and let the mixture cool down a bit.
5. Pour the liquid into a silicone mould or a baking dish that has been lightly greased to make the shape of gumdrops you want.
6. Let it sit at room temperature for a few hours, or until it’s firm. To speed up the setting process, you can also put it in the fridge.
7. Once the gumdrops are hard, take them out of the mould or, if you used a baking dish, cut them into cubes.
8. Coat each gumdrop equally with granulated sugar as you roll it in it. If you want, you can dust with cornflour to keep things from sticking.
9. You can keep your homemade gumdrops at room temperature for up to two weeks in a jar that won’t let air in. Share these tasty fruit treats!
